Gloucester hooker Darren Dawidiuk has agreed a new two-year deal to remain at Kingsholm.

The 24-year-old has gone on to establish himself as a key member of Gloucester's squad since joining the club from Cornish Pirates in 2009.

Dawidiuk has taken advantage of Scott Lawson's international absences and injury to Matias Cortese to push for the honour of being the club's first-choice No.2.

Head Coach Bryan Redpath said: "He's improved as a result of the more game time he's had because of the World Cup and he's put real pressure on Scott Lawson.

"Credit to him, he's come through our system over the last two or three years and he's continuing to improve things like his scrummaging thanks to his work with John Brain.

"He's done exceptionally well and he's another good signing for us. He's got bags of upside, he wants to stay here, he wants to improve. He's bought into what Gloucester is about and that's what we want."

Dawidiuk is now hoping to build on his promising start at the Cherry and Whites.

"I've had a great season of rugby and I'm feeling very settled here. I'm delighted that the coaches offered me the chance of another two years with Gloucester Rugby and I intend to repay their faith," he said.

"Gloucester has really become my home. I have a great relationship with all the lads here not just at training but off the field as well.

"My game has really come on during my time here but I appreciate that I'm still developing as a player and I really want to push on to benefit both myself and the club."
