Wales forward Alun-Wyn Jones is set to begin his comeback from injury for the Ospreys on Friday night.
His return provides a huge boost for Wales coach Warren Gatland, who is without Jones' fellow World Cup locks Bradley Davies and Luke Charteris through suspension and injury, respectively.
Davies received a seven-week ban on Wednesday after being cited for foul play during Wales' Six Nations victory over Ireland last weekend, while Charteris is not expected to play any part in the tournament due to a wrist problem.
Jones has been sidelined for three months because of a toe injury suffered during training with the Ospreys before a Heineken Cup game.
But he has now been named on the bench for the Ospreys' RaboDirect PRO12 match against Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Friday night.
Jones said: "I've done all the rehab work with the medical and conditioning teams. They have given me the all-clear, and I need to play now to see if I am fully fit.
"I appreciate with longer-term injuries you are not completely out of the woods until a month down the line with minutes under your belt, but I need to play now to see where I am.
"I am sure I will make a few mistakes when I come on as I'm a bit rusty, but I'm not fearing those. I just want to get back on the park and play."
Jones, 26, has won 59 caps and was an integral part of Gatland's World Cup plans last autumn when Wales reached the semi-finals.
After Sunday's game against Scotland, their next Six Nations game is a Twickenham appointment with England on February 25.
