The Women’s Eagle Sevens Team has assembled in preparation for the USA Women’s International Sevens Invitational from February 10-12 in Las Vegas.

There are 24 women attending the camp and all of them will play in the Invitational. Twelve players will compete as the USA Women’s Eagles Sevens Team and the remaining 12 women will compete as the 'Stars and Stripes,' a USA developmental squad. The camp begins January 30 and ends February 6 when the teams will depart for Las Vegas.

USA 7's rugby gearIn November 2011 USA Rugby announced that eight full-time training contracts would be offered to USA Women's sevens athletes. Of the 24 women attending camp, seven are full-time residents at the Olympic Training Center. The remaining 17 represent the taxi squad and development pool.

This team camp will be the first since the Women’s Eagle Sevens Team made it to the Cup semifinal at the IRB Women’s Sevens Challenge Cup in Dubai in December 2011. The large group of players attending the camp this week will make for tough competition in receiving an invite to play for the USA side in Las Vegas.

The first match of the tournament will see the USA Stars and Stripes play The Netherlands at 8:00 a.m. PT while the Women’s Eagles will play at 9:00 a.m. PT, both on February 10. All matches throughout the three-day tournament will be webcast live at usarugby.org.
